Northumberland Park SRB Programme

This major neighbourhood management programme focuses on one of the most disadvantaged areas in Haringey, the Northumberland Park area of Tottenham. The programme aims to facilitate economic and social growth in the area, by introducing a system of neighbourhood management that fully involves the local community and focuses on key themes such as employment and young people.

Urban Futures delivers a full programme management service. Our work involves developing a neighbourhood approach to regeneration that ensures delivery through community involvement, democratic participation and empowerment. Neighbourhood management is the ?glue? joining up mainstream public services with SRB and other funded opportunities in achieving the vision. We are also responsible for the monitoring and appraisal function, financial management and the marketing and promotion of the programme.

The programme acts as a catalyst to help partners develop services that are, in the long term, responsive to local needs and genuinely integrated with each other.

A Neighbourhood Board makes key decisions on SRB projects through project approval panels and is serviced by the Neighbourhood Management Team.

This approach has led to:

  • The completion of the Neighbourhood Resource Centre, which provides 1275/m2 of total space, a total investment in community assets of over £1.89 million.
  • The completion of the Northumberland Park Learning Centre ? a new lifelong learning resource for the neighbourhood to access skills training which provides 935/m2 of total space at a total cost of £1.5 million.
  • Establishment of a Neighbourhood Management Team and Neighbourhood Board.
  • The implementation of a successful Clean Team working in the area.
  • The implementation of a Neighbourhood Warden Team.
  • The declaration of the area as a Neighbourhood Renewal Area.
