Urban Futures is now delivering The Retail Skills Shop (based in Wood Green) as part of a network supported by the retail sector to assist and help up skill the members of the local community. The workshop is aimed at benefiting both the public and retailers by offering a recognized qualification and improving the skill set of potential employees for retailers. The network is co-ordinated by The National Skills Academy for Retail and delivers support for major chains and local dependants. |

The North London Retail Skills Shop delivers a range of support for the sector including:
- Filling vacancies
- Delivering apprenticeships
- Delivering “Retail Works” pre-vocational training courses
- Delivering in-work qualifications
- Welcome Host courses
- World Host courses
The Retail Matters Skills Shop is part of the National Retail Skills Shop Network – a series of “one-stop” shops for the Retail sector.
Retail Skills Shops offer support to both existing retailers, large & small, and to those who either wish to work or set up business in the retail sector.
We offer support to individuals in a number of ways:
- Advice and guidance on the variety of retail careers available; and Pre-employment training, to help you start your career in the retail sector
- In–work retail specific qualifications from levels 1 to 4
- Training to meet legislative requirements, such as First Aid
- Customer Service & Selling Skills courses, to help increase sales and service levels including the highly successful “Welcome Host” one day customer care course.
- Specialist business support courses in Business Planning, Merchandising and Finance, including the unique “Mary Portas” Master Classes
